Anti-Bullying Week

This week is Anti-Bullying Week.  Today we all wore our odd socks to show that we understand that everyone is unique.

This year the theme is 'show respect', in assembly today we discussed what respect means and how we can show it and give it in our school.

We also looked at what 'bullying' actually means;
The repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or group by another person or group, where the relationship involves an imbalance of power. Bullying can be physical, verbal or psychological. It can happen face-to-face or online.

We talked about the key word being 'repetitive'.

In our school, the children felt that adults will always intervene if somebody is unkind or hurtful and hopefully stop anything before it becomes bullying behaviour.  But they know who to speak to if they are worried.... we reminded ourselves of who our 5 trusted adults are that we can talk to.

Great odd socks everyone!!!!!
