Drinks at St Cuthbert's

 We have a water only policy for water bottles that children access through the day.  Juice/flavoured water is allowed at lunchtime only with their meal. See policy below.

NHS Guidance on Water, Drinks and Hydration states the following;

Children

The best drinks to give children are water and milk. Children can have pasteurised whole or semi-skimmed cows' milk, or goats’ or sheep’s milk, as a main drink from the age of 1.

Children should avoid sugary fizzy drinks, squash and juice drinks completely. Children who drink a lot of sugary drinks are more likely to become overweight. The added sugar in these drinks can also damage teeth.

All of our menus are produced in line with the governments’ food and nutrient based standards. This ensures that we are serving a healthy and nutritious menu that keeps children and young people fuelled throughout the day.

Promise to Parents

  • We will offer customers healthy choices in all that we serve.
  • We will explore ways of encouraging customers to choose a healthy diet through on-going innovation.
  • We will provide special diets where requested.
  • We use only good quality food and ingredients and continue to strive for the Food for Life catering Awards.
  • We will strive to use local produce where possible.
