Listening bus

We welcome the Listening Bus today from the National Deaf Children's Society, the bus travels all over the UK.  Different people from our community; children, parents, teachers & carers will be accessing the bus.
The whole school joined together for assembly.  We found out the different ways to communicate with people who are deaf and some of the children role-played different situations.
 
To help communicate with a deaf person you can;
  • Make eye contact
  • Use sign language or hand signs
  • Gently tap on the shoulder to get their attention
Deaf people may choose to lip read but using actions with your hands can really help with this.
